Adelaide now has its first LMCT+ members-only petrol station, and the opening has already drawn crowds, long queues and plenty of debate about whether paying to access the bowser is genuinely worth it.

The station opened on Saturday 3 October 2026 at 1112 South Road, Edwardstown, on the corner of South Road and Daws Road. Here is what you are in for before you join or make the drive.

What are you actually paying for?

LMCT+ advertises its Everyday Saver membership at $99 per year. It provides access to member petrol pricing and member grocery pricing at participating LMCT+ locations. That works out to approximately $1.90 per week.

You need an active membership to access the advertised member pricing. LMCT+ says members use the LMCT+ platform when filling and should confirm the displayed pump price before purchasing. The discount is not advertised as one permanently fixed number of cents per litre, so the value can change with the market and location.

People who joined before the Adelaide opening were offered a $50 fuel credit. That was an introductory opening offer and should not be assumed to remain available.

The station is around 8 kilometres south-west of Adelaide’s CBD. Because it sits on one of Adelaide’s busiest roads, expect the site and surrounding traffic to be particularly busy during launch promotions.

The headline price is only meaningful when it is compared with nearby stations at the same time. Before driving across Adelaide, check LMCT+ and live South Australian fuel prices, then calculate whether the trip and membership cost make sense for you.

Is the $99 membership worth it?

The answer depends on how much cheaper the fuel is when you fill up and how many litres you use. The figures below show approximately how much fuel would recover the full $99 annual fee.

The $99 question

How much fuel recovers the fee?

BREAK-EVEN
5¢ per litre1,980 L per year38 L per week
10¢ per litre990 L per year19 L per week
20¢ per litre495 L per year9.5 L per week
This is a simple break-even calculation based on the difference between LMCT+ and another station. It does not include grocery or partner savings.

For example, a regular saving of 10 cents per litre would recover $99 after 990 litres. That is roughly 19 litres per week across a full year. A family running multiple cars may recover the fee sooner, while an occasional driver may take much longer.

The calculation becomes more favourable if you also receive genuine value from grocery and partner discounts. It becomes less favourable if the station is out of your way or nearby fuel is already similarly priced.

The different LMCT+ membership options

The $99 Everyday Saver option is separate from LMCT+’s more expensive rewards tiers. The higher tiers add different levels of partner access, fuel-site benefits and accumulating giveaway entries.

What is LMCT+?

LMCT+ stands for Licensed Motor Car Trader Plus. Adrian Portelli founded the business in 2018. It began around cars and developed into a membership, savings and rewards platform operated through Xclusive Tech Pty Ltd.

The company currently advertises more than 2,000 partner offers. It also publishes figures claiming more than $160 million in prizes distributed, more than 1,000 giveaway winners and 46 millionaires. These are LMCT+’s own published figures.

LMCT+ has expanded beyond discounts and major promotions into fuel and grocery pricing. The Edwardstown location follows the opening of its members-only Preston petrol station in Melbourne.

The Adelaide opening drew a serious crowd

A street party was held at the site on Friday evening before the official opening. Hundreds attended, with police and traffic control present as congestion built around South Road.

By 6:30am on Saturday, more than 20 vehicles were reportedly already waiting for the 9am opening. Adrian Portelli also appeared at the launch and told the crowd Adelaide was one of his favourite places.

The South Australian legal background

LMCT+ has a complicated recent history in South Australia. In March 2026, the Adelaide Magistrates Court found Xclusive Tech Pty Ltd, trading as LMCT+, guilty of ten counts of conducting unlawful lotteries between January 2023 and May 2024. The company was fined $40,000.

Adrian Portelli personally was found not guilty of nine charges relating to assisting in those lotteries. The company subsequently lodged an appeal against its convictions. The ABC reported the court outcome.

In another well-publicised case, a Murray Bridge woman was initially announced as the winner of a $3.5 million Phillip Island home but was unable to claim it because South Australian residents were not eligible under the applicable arrangements. Portelli later gave her $100,000 personally.

South Australians can use LMCT+ discounts, fuel and other eligible membership benefits. However, they should read the specific eligibility rules before assuming they can enter or win a particular giveaway.

New federal rules are also approaching

The federal Interactive Gambling Amendment (Gambling Reform) Act 2026 received Royal Assent on 26 August 2026. Relevant changes scheduled for 1 January 2027 tighten the definition of online trade promotion gambling services.

The new definition requires the promotion to be incidental to genuine goods or services supplied at fair market value and says participation must not be supplied on an ongoing or recurring basis. This may require rewards clubs to restructure how recurring memberships and giveaway entries work. It does not automatically close physical petrol stations or prevent genuine fuel and grocery discounts.

The verdict

LMCT+ Petrol offers something genuinely different for Adelaide. The $99 membership could represent good value for a local driver who regularly saves enough per litre, uses the grocery benefits and does not have to travel far out of the way.

But do not judge it from a one-day promotional price. Compare the live pump price with nearby stations, work out your annual fuel use and read the membership terms. The real test is not how busy the launch was. It is how much an ordinary Adelaide driver saves over the full year.
